Jaguar Australia and The Australian Book of Records are pleased to announce that from September 24, until October 17, 2012 a team of drivers will be driving a Jaguar XF 2.2-litre diesel round the 14,600 km coastal road route of Australia, with a view to using the lowest fuel consumption for the 'Under 3 Litre Diesel' category.

This exciting drive will start 11am, from Jaguar HQ, 65 Epping Road, North Ryde, Sydney and will be under the watchful eye of The Australian Book of Records chief witness, Philip Swindells.

The drive will be headed by 'the world's most fuel efficient couple', Helen and John Taylor and in relay fashion other driver's en route will embrace the opportunity to get 'behind the wheel' of the Jaguar XF 2.2-litre diesel vehicle demonstrating by driving in a safe, smart fashion that they can improve their fuel consumption.

The record-breaking drive will conclude in Sydney just before the opening of the Australian International Motor Show, where the Jaguar XF and footage of their drive will be on display, and John and Helen will be sharing their tips on fuel economy with visitors to the Show.

"Jaguar want to demonstrate to everyday drivers how they can drive safer, smarter, save fuel, save money and reduce CO2 emissions, as well as break Australian National Fuel Economy Records, hence partnering up with the Taylors and The Australian Book of Records," said Nariné Salmasi, Jaguar Marketing and Public Affairs Specialist.

"We are very excited to be at the Australian International Motor Show where we can share our knowledge of and passion for fuel economy," said John Taylor.

"John and Helen's passion for fuel economy and commitment to educating motorists about how to drive safer and smarter is extremely admirable and we are sure that all visitors to the Motor Show will learn something from having been to their stand," said Russ Tyrie, Show Director.

"They are well respected throughout the world for their fuel saving techniques where they have exhibited at many Motor Shows and conducted multiple world records drives to demonstrate fuel economy.

"Furthermore, through the Australian Book of Records, John and Helen will also encourage visitors to the Australian International Motor Show to attempt their own Australian national and world

records – for all we know, Australia could eventually hold the world record for the most Smarties eaten with chopsticks!"

People of all ages and capabilities will be able to attempt Australian national and world records in categories ranging from food to technical to sporting, with dozens of attempts occurring throughout the Show duration.

The 2012 Australian International Motor Show will be held at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour from October 19-28, 2012.
