Leading automotive manufacturing group Renault has accorded Korean based tyre manufacturer Kumho with a massive plaudit by awarding the tyre company its Quality Award

Kumho is the first Korean tyre manufacturer to receive Renault's Quality award, which was made to Kumho COO and senior vice president Sechang Park during a supplier award event held at Renault Group's world headquarters in Boulogne-Billancourt, France.

Kumho was one of 11 global supply partners to receive the award from Renault CCO Thierry Bollore and the Executive Vice President Purchasing of Renault-Nissan, Christian Vandenhende.

Kumho is a key supplier to the Group, and its products equip vehicles within the Renault (Captur), Nissan (Rogue), Renault Samsung Motors (SM5 and SM7), and Dacia (Logan) ranges

According to Kumho the achievement of the award is based on the quality of the tyres the company supplies Renault.

"It is to be hoped we can continue to build on the excellent relationship that now exists between Renault and ourselves," said Sechang Park.

"This award means a tremendous amount coming from such an influential global car manufacturing company," he added.

The Korean tyre manufacturer has also been the sole tyre supplier for Renault Samsung Motors' electrically powered SM3 ZE since its debut last October.

Kumho recently expanded its European Technical Centre (KETC) with the creation of an innovative new tyre testing facility at Papenburg in Lower Saxony, Germany.

The facility at Papenburg is part of the Kumho global network of engineering and development facilities including its new 35,000 square metre R&D centre at Yongin City in Korea which serves as the hub of Kumho's global research and development network joining the facilities in America, Germany and China.

Kumho R&D also involves a range of real world testing programs across the world, including here in Australia where Kumho has undertaken a number of significant development programs particularly for all terrain SUV/4WD tyres as well as some unique heavy truck and trailer rubber along with various car tyre programs.
