Land Rover Australia is featuring their long time ambassador Les Hiddins "The Bush Tucker Man" in a new advertising campaign for the Discovery range of vehicles.

A combined print, radio and outdoor campaign has been launched nationally this week to highlight the amazing features of the Series II Discovery V8 & Td5 diesel.

Targeted to reach the family consumer this campaign features the well recognised voice of Les Hiddins, and a print execution highlighting the high level of luxury, safety and technological features which make the Discovery the best equipped and value 4x4 on the market.

The Discovery Series II brings a high level of sophistication and technology to the full size 4WD segment. It is highly recognisable due the distinct silhouette, alpine windows, command driving position and confident stance.

Technological advancements equip the Discovery with exceptional on and off road handling and comfort. Discovery is the first 4WD to offer Active Cornering Enhancement (ACE), which significantly reduces cornering roll, creating superior stability and responsiveness.

When combined with Self-Leveling Suspension (SLS), ACE takes Discovery Series II into a different league by providing a car-like response on the road, without any compromise to its off-road ability.

Self Leveling Suspension (SLS) rear air springs are used to keep the car level, ensuring excellent ride, comfort and maximum control is maintained over a wide range of load conditions.

Discovery is equipped with powertrain control systems that include Four Wheel Electronic Traction Control (4ETC), Hill Descent Control (HDC) and Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), all designed to achieve full utilisation of the vehicle's abilities. These systems provide enhanced handling and ride, which are critical for best of class on and off road performance.

Discovery Series II is available in both petrol and diesel engine derivitives. The Td5 turbo-diesel engine has five cylinders with Electronic Unit Injector (EUI) technology. With a maximum power of 101.5kW and a maximum torque of 315Nm at just 1950rpm the Td5 offers excellent performance and startling low down pulling power.

The 4.0 litre V8 petrol engine offers great power and torque, reduced emissions and noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) suppression.

A dual mode, intelligent, electronically controlled four-speed automatic transmission is available with either engine.

"Discovery has built up huge equity in customer loyalty due to its on-road performance and its unmatched off-road ability very much at its heart," said John McHugh, Managing Director of Land Rover in Australia.
