The Volvo XC90 D5 Inscription was today awarded Australia's Best Cars, AWD SUV $65,000-$125,000 category for 2015.

The Australia's Best Cars is the most independent evaluation of factors such as value for money, design, function and on road performance.

The Australia's Best Cars judges made a number of statements in regard to the award.

"When Volvo released the first XC90 in 2003, it basically pioneered the luxury seven-seat market. Now the market is spoiled for choice with offerings from a significant number of manufacturers".

As a matter of fact this time around there were twenty contenders in the category.

"Maybe the 12-year gap between models was a clever ploy by Volvo to sandbag the opposition with its exceptional new XC90".

Judges praised the Volvo XC90's beautiful interior design, class leading ergonomics and seating comfort, with the Volvo XC90 sprinting ahead when it came to Design and Function.

"Nice touches are the rimless mirror, the cover over the centre storage area that is not cheap plastic – other car makers please take note – the tiny diamond-shaped impressions on the toggle switches, and the crystal like appearance of the gear lever".

"Unlike many seven seat SUV's, where the third row seats are more of an afterthought, Volvo focused on making sure every occupant enjoys the XC90 experience. First is the theatre style seating, where the first row is the lowest, the next is slightly higher and the next higher again. This provides better vision for all occupants and also helps reduce motion sickness".

The Volvo XC90 also scored a perfect 10 for keeping occupants protected.

Kevin McCann Volvo Car Australia, managing director was on hand to accept the award.

"This is a proud moment for Volvo Cars in Australia as the XC90 is the vehicle based on our SPA platform, new design philosophy and engine architecture. We intend to be reaching the podium on a more regular basis, as the XC90 will be our oldest vehicle in our range the next four years".

Mr. McCann went on to acknowledge the judges for their support to the automotive consumers, with their collective view highly regarded and used in making informed choices on motor vehicle purchases.

Alongside the XC90 win, the Volvo V40 T4 Luxury was a finalist and finished second in the Small Car over $35,000 category.
