- Audi continues to bolster cultural partnerships on stage and screen
Sydney, January 12, 2017 – Audi Australia Pty Ltd joins one of Sydney's most iconic summer events – the St George Open Air Cinema – with a very special guest: the all-new Audi A5 Coupe.
Ahead of its official local release in March, cinema-goers have become the first in the country to see the highly anticipated second generation Audi A5 Coupé, with the very first car being flown to Australia for this landmark summer event.
The first generation Audi A5 was described by the legendary automotive designer, and former Head of Audi design, Walter de Silva, as the "the most beautiful car I've ever designed". The second-generation A5 Coupe builds on the stunning styling of de Silva and takes the car to the next level of sophistication.
Sharing the spotlight with the stars of the big screen, the all-new A5 Coupe will be the centre of attention for the next five weeks, as Audi celebrates its new relationship as a major partner of the St George Open-Air Cinema, Sydney.
Continuing with its long tradition of supporting talent 'on screen' in Australia, Audi has further bolstered its film properties in 2017, also partnering with Hoyts LUX cinemas for the next two years.
"Globally, Audi supports several key film sponsorships, encompassing a range of film festivals, local and international actors, producers and directors, and product placements in the Iron Man series, Captain America films, the Transporter series and the Avengers," said Andrew Doyle, Managing Director of Audi Australia.
"As a brand, it is important for this relationship to be reflected in Australia. Audi believes in performance, innovation and creativity and knows these core values are shared with the people who are driving the film industry forward."
As part of its commitment to supporting Australian culture, Audi will continue its partnership with the Melbourne Theatre Company for the sixth year and has also announced it will renew its longest standing sponsorship with Sydney Theatre Company – signing on for a 12th successive year.
The German luxury automotive company will continue to present the 'Audi Night With the Actors' series throughout 2017, offering theatregoers the opportunity to take part in bespoke Q&A events with cast and creatives, after select performances with both companies in Sydney and Melbourne.
