- World's largest Asia Pacific focused art exhibition
- Audi continues its support of contemporary art in Australia
Brisbane, November 20, 2015 – Audi Australia continues its commitment to support diverse culture experiences, as 'The 8th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art' (APT8) exhibition officially kicks off in Brisbane today.
More than 80 artists will take part in the world's largest Asia Pacific focused art exhibition at the Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA), proudly supported by Audi.
"As a German brand, culture and the arts are important to our heritage, reflecting the brand's values in a premium way. Supporting the arts in Australia enables us to engage with a sophisticated, art-appreciative audience and offers inspiring and unique experiences to our community of dealers and clients," Audi Australia's Managing Director, Andrew Doyle said.
Audi first began its sponsorship with QAGOMA in 2012 and has consistently supported exhibitions including the popular 'Future Beauty' in 2014 and Cai Guo-Qiang's extraordinary 'Falling Back to Earth' in 2013.
"QAGOMA has established a strong reputation for pushing boundaries, and the exhibitions that we are supporting are well-aligned to Audi's focus on progressive and innovative thinking," Mr Doyle said.
"For Audi, the partnership with one of Australia's premier contemporary art institutions, QAGOMA, has allowed us to drive increased brand awareness in the QLD region. It also provides us with a way of giving back to the community which supports the growth of the brand."
QAGOMA Director Chris Saines said the APT8 exhibition that will run for five months from 21 November through to 10 April 2016, would not be possible without the ongoing support of its sponsors.
"We are delighted to partner again with our principal sponsor Audi Australia to deliver APT8. Their ongoing commitment to the Gallery, and contemporary art in Australia, has helped us deliver exceptional experiences for our audiences," Mr Saines said.
The Asia Pacific Triennial is QAGOMA's flagship exhibition series focused on the work of Asia, the Pacific and Australia.
APT8 emphasizes the role of performance in the art of today, with live actions, video, kinetic art, figurative painting and sculpture exploring the use of the human form to express cultural, social and political ideas, and the central role of artists in articulating experiences specific to their localities.
APT8 includes more than 80 artists and groups; an ongoing program of artist performances and projects; a conference as part of the opening program; an extensive cinema program; publication; and activities for kids and families.
