BMW Motorrad is saddled up and ready to hit the trails of Australia with the new G 650 Xchallenge.

The new machine is the ideal complement to BMW's off-road riding machines, adding a harder sportier edge to its offerings in line with the brand's shift in perspective to include sportier, younger riders.

And what better way to attract new customers than with a gutsy off-road trail bike?

Australia's huge array of dirt roads, fire trails and open land gives trail riders plenty of opportunity to cut loose and explore our beautiful country. Now they can do so in the company of a BMW machine that offers all the durability, reliability, engineering excellence and innovation for which the brand has been respected by two-wheel fans around the world for more than 80 years.

The G 650 Xchallenge is not for everyone, but is the ideal machine for a rider who wants something special. From its 652 cc engine capacity it is obvious the Xchallenge is not an entry-level machine, even though it is competitively priced from $14,350 plus on road costs (NZ$17,095 in New Zealand).

The new machine offers experienced riders easy to appreciate unique product attributes, a distinctive and sporty appearance backed up by a confident and enjoyable riding experience.

In addition to the premium off-road product, BMW also offers trail riders the significant advantage of a two-year unlimited km warranty, proven engine reliability, long service intervals of 10,000 km, fuel injection (to obviate any jetting problems), and a range of in excess of 200 km of hard dirt riding, as well as a combination of serious trail bike with civilised commuter, if required.

"The G 650 Xchallenge is the perfect mixture of uncomplicated riding fun and excellent technology," said Cameron Cuthill, General Manager, BMW Motorrad Australia and New Zealand.

"The machine is perfectly equipped to deliver excellent dynamic performance, involving handling and directional stability, even at top speed.

"Its lightweight construction, high quality chassis and attention to detail, such as the long lightweight double sided swing arm and the central joint, ensure riding excellence in all conditions."
