25 February 2009 - Early reviews on the release of Honda's new electronically-combined ABS-fitted (e-CABS) sportsbikes suggest that the manufacturer has hit the mark, offering improved braking without compromising world-class performance and handling.

Australian fans of the standard CBR1000RR and CBR600RR can check out the all-new  e-CABS option on the 2009 models at this weekend's Round 1 of the World Superbikes at Phillip Island.

The all-new e-CABS system is designed to allow riders to stop quickly and securely, regardless of the conditions, and those who have already ridden the CBR1000RR and CBR600RR with this option describe it as offering a whole new level of security.

World Supersport Champion Andrew Pitt gave the system a big thumbs-up both on and off the track saying Honda has "hit the nail on the head with Combined ABS."

"Whereas some of the competition has introduced traction control and ways to control power delivery to make it safer, Honda has approached it in a different way and is addressing real-world emergency situations," Pitt said.

"I was that impressed, I am going to speak to the team and request that we get it up and running in preparation for the wet."

Both versions of the multi-award winning CBR1000RR feature a compact form, and phenomenally lighter weight in the design and manufacture of its frame, engine and chassis components.

Its innovative performance-enhancing developments like a new underslung exhaust system for mass centralization and new "assist slipper" clutch make for the smoothest shifting offered on a Honda sportsbike to date.

The 2009 Honda CBR600RR in both the standard and e-CABS model proves just how good a sports bike can be, and features a list of improvements from its Championship winning predecessor.

Among the changes for 2009 are updates to the CBR600RR's ultra-compact engine, which have increased the torque delivery resulting in extra mid range performance and even better driveability and flexibility.

Subtle but significant changes have also been made to the fairing with a new undercowl, more precise sculpting and new air vents added to create a more effective airflow at medium and high speeds to improve stability and cornering.

Both e-CABS bikes will be on display at the Honda site in the Expo from Friday, 27 March to Sunday, 1 March 2009 at the Phillip Island Circuit.

Available now in Dealers nationally, recommended retail for e-CABS CBR600RR is $16,990 and $20,490 for the CBR1000RR. Recommended retail for the standard option CBR600RR is $15,990 and $19,490 for the standard CBR1000RR.
