Marco Melandri made history by winning BMW Motorrad Motorsport's first ever WSBK race on the BMW S 1000 RR.

At the BMW Museum in Munich, Marco's fiancée, Manuela Raffaeta came face to face with BMW Motorrad's first Superbike, the legendary R 90 S.

Manuela is a model and it was fitting she was chosen for a special photoshoot with the bike that in 1976 took Steve McLaughlin to victory in the inaugural AMA Superbike race at Daytona. McLaughlin took victory by only 8 cm from fellow American BMW R 90 S rider, Reg Pridmore.

McLaughlin's magnificent bike now calls the BMW Museum home but as befitting a racer, it is often seen in action at classic events. Only a week prior to Manuela's photoshoot, Troy Corser gave the R 90 S a solid workout at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Manuela is an integral part of the scene in the BMW Motorrad Motorsport garage supporting Marco. She was excited to get back into modelling and having BMW Motorrad's first Superbike as the centrepiece presented the perfect opportunity for her.
