Citroen's stylish, seven seat, Grand C4 Picasso has taken out the Best Family Wagon category of Australia's most prestigious motoring award, the 2014 Australia's Best Cars Award.

The Grand C4 Picasso outclassed its category rivals, with on-road performance and value segments underpinning the Picasso's win.

Citroen's six year, unlimited kilometer, factory warranty combined with a six year, capped price servicing program and roadside assist were highlights in the segment.

Judges from the motoring clubs of each Australian state assessed in excess of 220 cars across 15 categories ranging from micro cars to large four-wheel-drive vehicles, with particular attention paid to value for money, design, running costs and driving performance.

Citroen Australia General Manager, John Startari, said that the win highlights the Citroen Picasso's outstanding value for money, design and driving dynamics.

"The Grand C4 Picasso is the ideal vehicle for Australian families, it is an individual in the segment, combining outstanding design and technology, with value for money and, the peace of mind from our six year warranty with capped price servicing," said Startari.

"The fact that the Grand C4 Picasso has taken out this award in its first eligible year, against some fierce competition, is testament to the renewed focus of our design and engineering teams to build cars that are innovative, great value, reliable and most important fun,

"Not only is the Citroen Grand C4 Picasso Australia's Best Family Wagon, it was also awarded Australia's Premier design award for automotive design at the 2014 Good Design Awards earlier this year," said Startari.

Comments from the Best Car judges included:

"The Citroën's 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine, with 110kW and 370Nm of engine torque, matched to a conventional six-speed automatic transmission, delivers better performance, especially out on the highway (where the Odyssey struggles) while delivering a perfect 10 for fuel consumption and environment,

"A six-year warranty quells any 'European car reliability' concerns," said Best Cars.

The seven seat, Citroen Grand C4 Picasso will also be joined by the all-new C4 Picasso (5 seater) during the first quarter of 2015.

The Citroen Grand C4 Picasso has also been awarded 2013 Best Family Car of Year by Top Gear Magazine UK and the prestigious Golden Steering Wheel by Auto Bild Magazine in Germany.

The Citroen Grand C4 Picasso carries a RRP of $43,990 excluding on-roads.
