DAF's new Australian model range is the culmination of almost a decade of research and development, including comprehensive consultation with the trucking industry and customising solutions to suit Australia's demanding applications.

DAF Trucks Australia General Manager, Brad Wolstenholme, is enthusiastic about the new models. "With this new range, DAF introduces a completely refreshed model line-up with the latest innovations," he said. "Each model delivers enhanced performance and increased driver comfort and safety, all vital elements for optimising productivity and improving profitability."

The new DAF model range features state-of-the-art PACCAR engines which offer performance characteristics to suit Australian applications and incorporate SCR technology to deliver Euro 4 emission standards.

The new LF series - efficient and reliable local distribution

The LF series sets high standards in productivity and driveability for metropolitan and regional distribution, from 12 - 21.5 tonnes GVM.

The new LF45 and LF55 feature modern exterior styling and spacious, ergonomic cabs for ease of operation and access. In addition, the vehicles include low chassis weight for optimum payloads, a tight turning circle for maximum manoeuvrability and car-like driving characteristics and comfort.

Interior design continues to be an important DAF component. Designed around the driver's needs, the LF series boasts a new multi-function steering wheel and revised dash layout so all the controls are logically grouped close to hand, and complemented with clear and concise dials making driving safer and easier.

The new PACCAR 6.7 litre GR engine replaces a 5.8 litre engine, providing around 20 per cent more torque for maximum pulling power and flexibility. The air-cooled, six cylinder, turbo-charged engine features electronically-controlled, high-pressure common rail fuel injection, with four valves per cylinder and cross-flow cylinder head, developing power ratings from 220 to 280 hp in a flat torque curve.

In addition to the existing six-speed ZF manual transmission DAF has introduced the nine-speed Eaton manual and the new ZF six-speed AS-Tronic automated manual version.

The new CF Series - powerful, versatile and reliable

The CF series provides premium comfort and performance for a variety of medium to heavy-duty applications.

The CF75 is available in a wide range of configurations, including 4x2, 6x2, 6x4 and 8x4 rigid chassis and as a 4x2 prime mover. The flagship CF85, which can handle heavy-duty distribution up to 30 tonnes GVM, is available as 6x4 and 8x4 rigid and 4x2 and 6x4 prime mover.

The CF series has been redesigned to provide a modern exterior look, with spacious, ergonomic cabs, intuitively placed gauges and switches and steering wheel controls for cruise control, speed limiter, engine brake and telephone functions, making driving as practical and pleasurable as a premium passenger car.

The CF75's new 9.2 litre PACCAR PR engine is an in-line, six cylinder powerplant, providing increased performance, reduced emissions and low fuel consumption. It is available in 250, 310 and 360 hp variants, producing flat torque of 1050, 1275 and 1450 Nm respectively.

The top-of-the-range CF85 sports the new 12.9 litre PACCAR MX engine, a compact 6 cylinder with low weight, high performance and quiet operation. With four valves per cylinder, the MX engine comes in 360, 410 and 460 hp variants, delivering flat torque of 1775, 2000 and 2300 Nm respectively.

Both models come with a choice of transmissions. The CF75 is available with a 16 speed ZF manual or a 12 speed AS-Tronic. The CF85 comes standard with the 12 speed AS-Tronic, and can now also be fitted with an Eaton Roadranger 18-speed manual transmission, highly regarded for durability and performance in Australian conditions and fully supported through the ALLRig parts and service network.

The CF is a truly versatile series, offering a wide selection of axle configurations, wheelbases and specifications, with both models available in day, sleeper and space cab. The multi-functional, flat-topped chassis is body-builder friendly, providing a solid foundation for every application.

Wolstenholme points out that with the new model line-up, DAF continues to add another dimension to Australian transport, providing a quality European alternative that complements Australia's iconic Kenworth brand.

"DAF has reached a new level of sophistication. Our model range is widely regarded as the best-engineered European trucks available. All DAF models are fully supported, before and after sale, by PACCAR Australia and the country's best dealer network," he added.

DAF Trucks Australia, a division of PACCAR Australia Pty Ltd, distributes a complete range of medium and heavy-duty trucks throughout Australia. PACCAR is a global technology leader in the design, manufacture and customer support of high-quality light-, medium- and heavy-duty trucks under the Kenworth, Peterbilt and DAF nameplates.
