The MX Nationals back-to-back rounds 3 and 4 held in Wonthaggi, Victoria this weekend will be the ideal opportunity for Honda's 'Ride Red' riders to get some serious points on the board.

Racing at the same location two days in a row will allow the young group to familiarise themselves with the track and use it to their advantage when planning out their race strategy.

Joel Wightman is the highest placed MX1 rider in the Ride Red group and is hungry to improve on his best 10th overall position.

"Racing back to back rounds allows you to learn from any mistakes that might happen on day 1 and ensure they aren't repeated on day 2. You get to know the track and can break it into sections – know your strengths and push harder in those areas, or where competitors might show weakness, it's all about planning. I am certainly looking to be inside of the top 8, both days," said Wightman.

Honda's Brand and Motorsport Manager, Glyn Griffiths said; "the double round should be seen as an opportunity to learn and grow. It allows riders to show strong improvements across the weekend and come away with solid placings."

MX1 riders, Joel Green and Lachie Davis will unfortunately not race this weekend due to injuries sustained at round 2. This leaves James Alen, Izak Maule to fly the 'Ride Red' flag alongside Wightman in the MX1 class.

The Latimer brothers sit 16th and 20th respectively in the MX2 class and aim for stronger placings this weekend. Both Ride Red riders in the MXD class are well inside the top 10 with Rhys Budd sitting 7th and Jai Constantinou 10th overall.  The team are ready to take on the Wonthaggi sand with high hopes for strong positions.
