Polaris' Victory and Indian Motorcycle division today announced the appointment of motorcycle industry general Peter Nochar to the position of Director Sales & Network - Motorcycles with Polaris Industries Australia & New Zealand.

After 5½ years heading up Harley Davidson Australia and NZ as Manager Director, Nochar will take on this newly-created senior role at Polaris in the midst of the most exciting growth era in the motorcycle business. On the back of the global brand launch of Indian just over 12 months ago, plus new model additions to the Indian Motorcycle range, coupled with new Victory models arriving in coming months, the motorcycle business is poised to raise the benchmark and sales in the cruiser and touring bike categories

Nochar has had a distinguished career in the automotive industry with lead roles at prestige brands in the global market before coming to Australia in 2001 to open the Australian subsidiary of Volkswagen as Managing Director, moving into management consulting roles for a number of years before accepting the COO position at Kia Motors Australia, prior to taking the helm at Harley Davidson Australia in 2008.

Peter has a proven track record in delivery outstanding achievement in sales, customer satisfaction, team leadership and dealer engagement. These attributes make him the perfect candidate to drive the motorcycle business further forward, capitalising on our product and take on industry powerhouse brands

"I am very excited to be joining the Motorcycle team and hope I can make a worthy contribution." said Nochar.

I have had the opportunity to ride the new Indian Chief at length and was really impressed with the power, handling and comfort.

"I am sure there is huge potential for both the Victory and Indian Brands and I look forward to contributing to their success and having fun along the way."

Delighted with the appointment of Nochar to this role, Polaris Australia & New Zealand Manager Director, Peter Alexander, described it as a "pivotal moment" for the Victory and Indian Motorcycle brands locally.

Nochar is the second senior industry leader to join Polaris this year, with highly respected former Suzuki GM Perry Morrison taking up the mantle of Executive Director - Government Relations in April this year.

"To have Peter want to join our business not long after Perry Morrison, speaks volumes and shows confidence in the Polaris brand and strategy," Alexander said.

"Peter's appointment brings peerless experience, vision and potential at a perfect moment for our local motorcycle business, we have aggressive growth ambitions and with Peter aboard we can realise them far sooner."
