Jaguar sales in Australia were up an extraordinary 132% on the prior year, retailing 3,008 retails in 2016. This is the brand's strongest ever full-year performance in Australia and was primarily driven by sales of the Jaguar XE sport sedan (1524 units) and from August F-PACE with 829 units, along with a strong performance from F-TYPE achieving 7.5% growth YoY.

Land Rover also had a record-breaking year, achieving double digit growth and retailing 13,597 vehicles in 2016. The best-seller for the year was the Discovery Sport, which retailed 4,432 vehicles, up 108% YoY. Also notable were sales of the Range Rover Evoque, up 17% to 2,732, and Range Rover Sport, up 8% to 3,099.

Matthew Wiesner, Jaguar Land Rover Australia Managing Director, said "This has been a significant year for the Jaguar and Land Rover brands in Australia. Land Rover sakes continue to grow led by the class-leading Discovery Sport, which achieved 15% share of the medium SUV segment in its first full year.

It is particularly pleasing to see the Jaguar brand setting impressive new sales records and performing well in all of the segments where it competes. The all-new Jaguar F-PACE is quickly becoming the brand's top seller and the XE and XF sport sedans continue to do very well in the respective segments.

This level of sales performance would not have been possible without the high level of investment in JLR retailer facilities and their people throughout 2016. With over $120M currently being invested in new or upgraded facilities, we have enhanced the level of the customer experience and the results are clear to see in the record retail results."

Jaguar Land Rover, the UK's leading manufacturer of premium luxury vehicles also achieved its best ever full-year global sales in 2016, selling more than one car every minute with retails of 583,313 vehicles, up 20% on the prior year.
