Mazda's medium SUV continues to prove itself the most popular choice with Australians, with the Next-Gen CX-5 leading the SUV segment and breaking its October record according to VFACTS figures released today.

The Next-Gen CX-5 retained its place as Australia's favourite SUV in October, reporting a 3.2 per cent year on year increase with 21,360 sales for the year to date, more than any other SUV across all segments.

The Next-Gen CX-5 also broke its own October sales record, achieving 2,173 retails, amounting to a 6.7 per cent increase on the previous record.

On a global scale, the Next-Gen CX-5 is also credited with helping Mazda Motor Corporation achieve record results. The roll-out has steered the company to a new global sales record of 783,000 units for the first half of FYE March 2018, up 8,000 units year on year.

Overall, Mazda Australia saw positive results across its range; retailing 8,054 units to total 89,863 units for the year to date.

Managing Director of Mazda Australia, Vinesh Bhindi, said results for the Next-Gen CX-5 affirm the SUV's place as a market leader.

"The CX-5 has gone from strength to strength in Australia; its style, safety and performance offer customers a winning combination," Bhindi said.

"We expect this success to continue, with additional production from the Hofu Plant in Japan offering increased supply of the CX-5 to our market."

It's easy to see why the Next-Gen CX-5 is so appealing; boasting bold sporty styling and high quality finishes, the design reflects Mazda's celebrated KODO design language.

Recently scoring a 5 star ANCAP safety rating, the Next-Gen CX-5 also offers an array of refined i-ACTIVESENSE safety technologies.

A number of i-ACTIVSENSE safety technologies are offered as standard on all grades: Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) and Smart City Brake Support [Forward/Reverse] (SCBS F/R). Touring grade upwards features Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR) and front parking sensors.

The top of the range Akera offers Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) with a Stop and Go function, Adaptive LED Headlamps (ALH), Driver Attention Alert (DAA), Forward Obstruction Warning (Fow), Lane Keep Assist System (LAS) and Smart Brake Support (SBS), plus a side camera.

The Next-Gen Mazda CX-5 range also features front (driver and passenger), side (front) and curtain (front and rear) SRS Airbags, with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), Hill Launch Assist (HLA), Traction Control System (TCS) and a reversing camera as standard on all grades.

Offered in five grades, the Next-Gen Mazda CX-5 comes with a choice of three engine and two transmission types.
