Mazda today announced that it will partner with the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport (CAMS) to power the FIA Institute Young Driver Excellence Academy Asia-Pacific Selection Event, showing its dedication in supporting motorsport both in Australia and abroad.
Top drivers from 19 countries across the Asia-Pacific region have been selected to take part in the event at Sydney Motorsport Park in October. Drivers were chosen by a panel assembled by CAMS and were judged on their recent competitive performances as well as meeting the minimum selection criteria.
Mazda will provide both MX-5 Roadster Coupes and Mazda3 sedans for the participants judged best in the region to demonstrate their driving prowess across a number of skilled exercises. They will also be evaluated on their fitness, teamwork skills and media techniques throughout the event.
The winner of the event will earn the opportunity to compete in the 2013/14 FIA Institute Young Driver Excellence Academy, with the chance to take their career to the next level.
Young Victorian driver Anton De Pasquale, 18, is the lone Australian selected from a long list of talented drivers and will carry the flag for Australia on October 20 - 23.

Anton is an exciting prospect and we wish him well as he competes against the best in the Asia-Pacific region."
