WHEN Lee Holdsworth resumes his chase for the 2010 V8 Supercar Championship Series at Phillip Island this weekend, the Garry Rogers Motorsport driver will be grabbing attention for his off-track style as well as his on-track skill.

Holdsworth has taken delivery of a stunning new road car, one of the first latest-generation Chevrolet Camaro coupes in Australia.

Collecting the silver Camaro 2SS was a highlight for Holdsworth of the nine-week V8 season break, which has ended with this weekend's L&H 500 endurance race at Phillip Island in Victoria.

The Camaro was supplied and re-engineered to right-hand drive configuration by Australia's leading independent importer of American vehicles, Performax International.

"That is a sweet car!" were Holdsworth's first words when he took delivery of the Camaro at the GRM headquarters in Dandenong.

"Now I'm just looking forward to driving it on a daily basis. It's an absolute eye catcher on the road and a massive spectacle at the race track.

"I drive a Holden Commodore for Fujitsu Racing so it's naturally expected that I drive a GM product on the road.

"I was lucky enough to test-drive the world's first right-hand drive Camaro at Lakeside in Queensland early this year and knew straight away I had to get my hands on one. Performax International has done a brilliant job re-engineering it to right-hand drive.

"I'm absolutely stoked with the Camaro! It's not only one of the best sports cars GM has ever made but also has a pretty close design link to the Commodore."

Holdsworth's top-spec Camaro 2SS runs a 6.2 litre, LS3 aluminium V8 engine producing 318 kilowatts of power, driving through six-speed manual or automatic transmissions.

It features all-independent suspension, electronic stability and traction control and high-performance Italian Brembo brakes behind 20-inch alloy wheels and Pirelli P Zero 245/45ZR20 tyres.

Interior comfort and convenience equipment includes Bluetooth phone connection, a six-way electrically-adjustable driver's seat, premium Boston Acoustic audio system, cruise control and leather-wrapped steering wheel.

Performax International, based in Gympie, Queensland, is celebrating its 20th year as an American vehicle specialist.

In addition to the highly-acclaimed fifth-generation Camaro, it supplies fully-certified and warranted, new RHD Chevrolet Corvettes, Chevrolet Silverado sports trucks, Ford Mustangs, Hummer H2s and CrossRoads fifth-wheel caravans to buyers across Australia. It also carries out custom re-engineering work for private importers.

It uses industry-leading technology such as CAD-CAM design and 3D-printed component prototyping to achieve ISO Quality Assurance standards of fit, finish and performance in right-hand drive engineering.
