Peugeot Australia has confirmed the all-new, seven-seat 5008 SUV is being considered for a mid-2017 local launch ahead of its Paris International Motor Show unveiling later this month.

Bearing only the name of its predecessor, the all-new Peugeot 5008 breaks new ground for the French marque as its first large, seven-seat SUV.

The all-new Peugeot 5008 SUV follows the lead of the all-new 3008 SUV – recently confirmed for Australia – with both models breaking away from their respective MPV-derived predecessors to offer a vehicle aligned to the growing, robust SUV segment.

General Manager of Peugeot Australia, Kai Bruesewitz, said the unveiling of the all-new 5008 reinforces the internationalisation of Peugeot and its commitment to its 'Push to Pass' plan.

"The new year will signal one of the largest product launch periods for Peugeot both locally and abroad, with the potential of three new or revised SUV models joining the Peugeot line-up in Australia," said Bruesewitz.

"With updated 2008, all-new 3008 and, pending negotiations, all-new 5008, Peugeot will round out its full-range of passenger and SUV vehicles in Australia.

"For the first time in Peugeot's history we could offer an SUV derivative of every passenger vehicle line and it demonstrates Peugeot's commitment to satisfying global model demand while leveraging the vast experience within the PSA Group.

"While final specifications and model line-up are yet to be confirmed, we are confident of securing the seven-seat 5008 SUV for local sale," Bruesewitz said.

Peugeot Australia anticipates a mid-2017 launch for the all-new 5008 with final specification and pricing to be confirmed closer to the time.

--------------------------INTERNATIONAL INFORMATION--------------------

The all-new PEUGEOT i-Cockpit® elevates the passenger compartment.
Inside, the driver's environment is unique with the newest version of the innovative, almost futuristic PEUGEOT i-Cockpit® which offers vehicle occupants a novel driving experience that both surprises and delights.

With its compact steering wheel, a large 8.0-inch touchscreen dashboard and a spectacular 12.3-inch high-resolution, digital head-up display, the new PEUGEOT i-Cockpit® impresses drivers with its superior graphics and  elegant animations.

Spacious interior and with more functions
The 2.84m wheelbase of the new 5008 SUV makes it the most liveable of C-segment SUVs. The overall length of the vehicle (4.64m) remains compact as the all-new Peugeot 5008 SUV -- though 19cm longer than the all-new Peugeot 3008 SUV and 11cm longer than the original version of the 5008 -- is still one of the most conservatively proportioned and its extra length makes it roomier for passengers.

The vehicle's optimised architecture is only part of the package on offer. The all-new Peugeot 5008 is more than just an SUV, it stands out in the market with an innovative configuration that includes:

  • three matching but separate folding second row seats, each one adjustable in length and inclination;
  • two removable, separate, folding seats in the third row and;
  • the largest boot capacity in its class with a maximum 1060 litres available.

The all-new Peugeot 5008 SUV can also have a foldable front passenger seat (to carry especially long loads measuring up to 3.20m) and a practical, hands-free, motorized tailgate.

An SUV with an imposing exterior
Just one look is all that's required to determine that the all-new Peugeot 5008 is an SUV. All the hallmarks are there: the long, horizontal bonnet, vertical front and raised body line. At 1.64m its height remains the same across all variants and roof bars are standard on all models.

The all-new Peugeot 5008's overall profile is long and dynamic. At the front, the wide grille with chrome fins is exclusive while the rear design features the gloss black strip and signature LED 'claw effect' rear lights – also featured on all-new 3008 – which set the design theme for all future Peugeot SUVs.

Driving and travelling pleasure that rivals the best touring vehicles
The all-new Peugeot 5008 SUV, the 308 and the all-new 3008 SUV all feature the Efficient Modular Platform (EMP2) and the very latest Euro 6.1-compliant powertrains. Whether the choice is petrol or diesel, all versions stand out above their competitors with similar engines. Carbon-dioxide emissions are as low as 115g/km for petrol engines and only 105g/km for diesels.

This new Peugeot is an invitation to travel in luxury, not least because it has excellent sound insulation and a number of features for the comfort of all on board with body-hugging front seats featuring an available multipoint massage system, FOCAL® Premium Hi-Fi system and a large panoramic, opening glass roof on the equipment list.

On-board connectivity is underpinned by a Mirror Screen function and 3D-connected navigation system (yet to be confirmed for Australia).

Cutting-edge advanced driver assistance systems make driving even safer with an arsenal of safety features standard or optional (depending on market location specifications) which includes Advanced Grip Control with new exclusive Hill Assist Descent Control (HADC), Automatic Emergency Braking System (AEBS), Distance Alert, Active Lane Keeping Assistance (LKA), Driver Attention Warning, Smart Beam Assistance, Speed Sign Recognition and Speed Suggestion, Adaptive Cruise Control with stop feature (with the optional automatic gearbox), Active Blind Spot Monitoring, Park Assist and Visio Park, giving 360-degree vision.

The all-new Peugeot 5008 SUV is also providing innovative mobility solutions for today's world by giving the opportunity to integrate an e-Kick or e-Bike in its boot.

The e-Kick is an innovative, electrically-assisted, folding scooter while the e-Bike eF01 is a new, electrically-assisted, portable bicycle. Both e-Kick and e-Bike come complete with a mobile docking station for charging.

A superior range of vehicles made in France
The all-new Peugeot 5008 SUV range will be available in a possible five trim levels with three mainstream versions (Access, Active and Allure) plus GT Line and GT versions that perfectly match the strategy developed by the brand in the recent past.

Manufactured in Rennes (France), the all-new Peugeot 5008 SUV will be unveiled at the 2016 Paris Motor Show ahead of its 2017 international launch.
