Piaggio’s MP3 400, the big brother to the MP3 250, is now
on sale in Australia at $11,990 (plus ORC).
The 400 shares the same technological platform as the $10,990 (plus
ORC) 250, but it features the new Master 400cc engine for even more
muscle. The liquid-cooled four-valve engine, which meets strict
Euro3 emission standards, produces 25Kw at 7500rpm and 38Nm of
torque at 6500rpm.
The MP3 400 also has a bigger rear wheel than the MP3 250 (up to 14
inches from 12) and a longer wheelbase (up to 1550mm from 1490).
The end result is impeccable stability and outstanding road
grip.
The MP3s provide safety and stability levels that no other
two-wheeler can match -- especially on uneven and wet surfaces.
They take on cobblestone streets, patchy asphalt and tram tracks
with the greatest of ease, and are no wider than a comparable
two-wheel maxi scooter.
An electro-hydraulic tilt-locking system means there is no need to
put the MP3 400 on its stand, although one is provided for ease of
servicing. Simply flick the lean-locking button and apply the
parking brake. The system will operate at any angle, so you don't
need to find a level parking area.
The machine’s three-disk braking system and exceptional
road-holding capability combine to reduce braking distance by 20
percent compared to other scooters.
A large range of accessories is also available for the MP3 400,
including a maxi windscreen and top box, which adds to the already
considerable underseat storage area.
The release of the MP3 400 now completes the innovative three-wheel
scooter range in Australia, with the sporty Gilera Fuoco 500
($12,990 plus ORC) also going on sale late last year.
The Piaggio MP3 400 is type-approved as a standard two-wheeled
motorcycle. This means licensing and registration requirements are
the same as for a motorcycle.
