Team Motul Suzuki's Matt Moss claimed an emphatic victory on Saturday evening at Brisbane Entertainment Centre to clinch the 2014 Australian Supercross Championship with a perfect season.

A second-consecutive SX1 class supercross title for Moss caps off a stellar year, which saw him successfully defend both the MX Nationals and supercross championships riding a Suzuki's RM-Z450.

Moss rallied his way forward in the 20-lap main event from the back-half of the top 10 on the opening lap, slicing his way through to the lead on lap 14 to secure an unbeaten run of five round victories from five starts in 2014.

Earlier in the evening Moss had sealed the championship just by qualifying for and starting the final, however a mid-race surge in the tight confines of the entertainment centre saw him go on to capture the elusive perfect season.

"I was stuck back in the pack with five or so laps gone by and I wasn't really feeling it at that point," Moss reflected. "But the guys at the front didn't seem to be getting away and I got going there in the middle of the race and I'm glad I did. I was able to pick them off and get the win, which made for the perfect season.

"I'm just really thankful to everybody at Team Motul Suzuki, all of our supporters and the people that help make this happen. We go racing for a lot of reasons, but to win and reward everybody involved in that way is the best feeling. It's been an amazing year for everybody involved and the RM-Z450 delivered everything we asked of it the whole way."

Team Motul Suzuki teammate Lawson Bopping raced to third in the standings after finishing seventh at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre - a mid-race mistake costing him any chance of maintaining second in the championship.

Still, it was a memorable reunion for Bopping on the RM-Z450, displaying front-running form throughout the five rounds after sitting out much of the outdoor motocross season earlier in the year.

"Brisbane was a difficult round for me in the end, the track was really tight and didn't completely suit me, but I am happy to finish on the podium in the championship," Bopping commented. "We've come a long way this year and Team Motul Suzuki has been right behind me the whole way in supercross, so thank you to them and all of our sponsors."

Moss will now travel to Europe this week for the prestigious Paris-Bercy Supercross in France, pitted against a selection of the world's best riders on 15-16 November.
