NEW MODELS OFFER THE BEST COMBINATION OF POWER, COMFORT & CARGO SPACE
Sydney (November 20, 2009) - Only Victory could offer the Cross Country+óGÇP-ó and Cross Roads+óGÇP-ó - high-performance, high-comfort interpretations of the ultra-popular hard bagger cruiser with distinctively fresh Victory styling. The fairing-equipped Cross Country+óGÇP-ó and windshieldequipped Cross Roads+óGÇP-ó provide long riders with the best power, handling, ride, comfort and cargo space they've ever enjoyed on the open road.
Of course, these bikes feature distinctive, forward-thinking, creative styling - a Victory hallmark.
There's nothing retro about the tire-hugging front fender, the stylish Cross Roads+óGÇP-ó headlight, the dynamic Cross Country+óGÇP-ó fairing, the sculpted fuel tank and the fl owing lines of the rear fender.
These are really not your father's hard baggers. But now that they're here, have Dad climb on and see what a great touring experience really feels like.
POWERTRAIN: IMPRESSIVE, RELIABLE & PROVEN FREEDOM+é-« PERFORMANCE
The Cross Country+óGÇP-ó and Cross Roads+óGÇP-ó are powered by the Victory Freedom+é-« 106/6 Stage 1 V-Twin. This is a 106-cubic inch engine with a 6-speed transmission with overdrive. This is the same engine that powers Victory Vision models and it delivers 92 horsepower and 109 ft-lb of torque - impressive power for solo or two-up touring. There is ample power on demand for merging into interstate traffi c, overtaking vehicles on highways and for making good time on the open road.
This proven and reliable 50+é-¦ V-Twin has single overhead camshafts with 4 valves per cylinder.
Victory Freedom engines have a long track record of excellent performance while requiring only routine scheduled maintenance. This engine, for example, has self-adjusting cam chains and hydraulic lifters. It is also counterbalanced for smooth operation and minimal vibration, enhancing rider comfort.
The electronic fuel injection (EFI) has dual 45mm throttle bodies, and the air intake is under the fuel tank, so intake noise is minimized. The engine uses an all-new, split dual exhaust with a new hydroformed crossover pipe and hydroformed collector designed to evenly balance flow. Stylish accessory exhaust tips are available for both models, as is a Stage 1 Kit that unleashes additional performance by opening up the intake and exhaust.
Sixth gear in the 6-speed transmission is a true overdrive that is ideal for smooth, efficient cruising on the highway. Final drive is a belt drive using a carbon fiber-reinforced belt.
Each bike has a 22-litre fuel tank with a 3.8-litre reserve.
CHASSIS: INNOVATIVE FRAME DESIGN & PREMIUM SUSPENSION
Both models have an innovative frame design that is similar to that of the Victory Vision yet is distinctly engineered to optimize the ride and performance of the Cross Country+óGÇP-ó and Cross Roads+óGÇP-ó.
These bikes have a two-piece, sand-cast, hollow aluminum frame, with the two main components joined just forward of the seat. The fuel tank is mounted atop the hollow front section of the frame, and the engine - a stressed member in all Victory chassis - is mounted under that front section.
The rear frame piece hosts the seat, swing arm, patent-pending rear suspension linkage, rear fender and saddlebags.
Victory's CORE Technology+óGÇP-ó, combined with Innovative mass placement, ensures that both the Cross Country+óGÇP-ó and Cross Roads+óGÇP-ó are the lightest bikes in their class. As an added benefit, both bikes have exceptionally low centers of gravity for easy handling at all speeds.
The rear suspension features a mono-tube shock that is air-adjustable and provides 120mm of travel.
The Schrader valve used to adjust the shock's air pressure is mounted inside the bike's right-hand side cover, as is a small chart specifying the recommended air pressure for various passenger-and-cargo weights.
Up front are a pair of 43mm-diameter inverted cartridge forks that provide 130mm of travel. The front end is engineered to deliver responsive handling with an easy steering effort on both the fairing-equipped Cross Country+óGÇP-ó and the windshield-equipped Cross Roads+óGÇP-ó.
Both of these touring models have premium Victory brake packages. Up front are dual 300mm floating rotors with 4-piston calipers, and the rear brake is a 300mm floating rotor with a 2-piston caliper.
These bikes roll on new "Roulette" wheels that are standard on all Model Year 2010 Victory touring models. These are lighter weight, hollow-spoked wheels engineered for optimized geometry and excellent performance. The Cross Country+óGÇP-ó and Cross Roads+óGÇP-ó ride on Dunlop+é-« Elite 3 tires.
The front and rear sets of turn signals and the taillight consist of clusters of ultra-bright LED lights.
The chin spoiler at the front of the frame adds style and covers the battery and oil cooler.
ERGONOMICS: 2-UP COMFORT FOR THE LONG HAUL
The Cross Country+óGÇP-ó and Cross Roads+óGÇP-ó are both designed to provide the driver and passenger with comfortable seating positions that let them enjoy the ride, whether it's across town or a full day of touring.
The driver enjoys a 667mm seat height - the lowest-in-class seat height for both models - and the front of the comfortable seat is narrow to allow the driver's legs to stretch directly down to the ground at stops.
The 18-inch-long (45cm) floorboards - the longest in the class - allow a driver to vary foot placement and leg angle, flexibility that provides significant riding comfort during long days in the saddle. The shift lever is a toe-only shifter so the rear section of the left floorboard remains open for flexible foot positioning. A heel-toe shifter is available as a Pure Victory Gear accessory.
The handlebars on both models position the upper controls so they're easy to reach and operate, and the bars are adjustable: They can be rotated to the height the driver prefers, and the adjustment can be made on both bikes without removing anything.
The passenger sits on a comfortable pad that is slightly higher than the driver seat so the passenger can see over or around the driver. Every seat for these new touring models - including the stock seat and all Pure Victory Gear accessory seats - comes with a slot that will accommodate an accessory driver backrest. A Passenger Backrest for the passenger is available, as are Chrome Passenger Handholds.
The wiring harness on both the Cross Country+óGÇP-ó and Cross Roads+óGÇP-ó is equipped to accommodate the installation of accessories such as driving lights, heated driver handgrips, cruise control and heated seats.
SADDLEBAGS: COPIOUS CARGO CAPACITY
The dual saddlebags have a total cargo capacity of 80.6 litres, and each bag will hold approximately 11.3kg of cargo. These saddlebags provide the greatest cargo volume among the market's best-selling hard-bagged cruisers - their capacity is 25% more than the Harley-Davidson+é-« Street Glide.
With these spacious saddlebags and the bikes' innovative, effi cient frame design, the Cross Country+óGÇP-ó and Cross Roads+óGÇP-ó offer the segment's leading load capacity.
These saddlebags feature glass-fi lled nylon construction for strength and durability, and each has a hinged lid with a lockable latch that can be operated with one hand. They were engineered to use exterior mounting hardware, so the interior of the bags is almost completely open for cargo. The bags can be removed from their mounts quickly and easily via quarter-turn fasteners for thorough bike cleaning and easy access to the rear tire to check air pressure.
Pure Victory Gear offers saddlebag accessories including; Saddlebag Lid Rails that mount on the lids and serve as cargo racks; Saddlebag Liners (zippered luggage that fi ts conveniently inside the bags); and Saddlebag Lid Organizers, which are mesh pockets that hold an assortment of small items conveniently inside the lids.
CROSS COUNTRY+óGÇP-ó:
A LOOK AT ITS UNIQUE FEATURES
The Cross Country+óGÇP-ó offers a touring rider outstanding protection, comfort and convenience with its fork-mounted fairing. The fairing serves as the headlight housing, it blocks and deflects wind, precipitation and road debris such as stones kicked up by other vehicles, and it hosts extensive instrumentation and an audio system.
The design of the fairing is both stylish and practical. The styling coordinates with the unique look of the Cross Country+óGÇP-ó, and the design provides optimal rider protection.
Extensive computer modeling, wind tunnel testing and on-road evaluation went into the fairing's final design. A ridge running across the front face of the fairing is stylish - and it also deflects wind and rain to the sides, beyond the driver's hands. At the base of the windshield is a small channel that allows air to stream up the back face of the windshield for optimized air fl ow. Pure Victory Gear offers a selection of high and low accessory
windshields. The combination of an accessory tall windshield and lower wind deflectors will provide the most thorough protection and comfort for high-mileage touring riders.
On the driver-facing side of the fairing is MFD (multi-function display) instrumentation and the bike's audio system. The MFD includes an analog speedometer and tachometer, fuel gauge and a battery charge meter.
The wealth of data in a digital display panel includes: gear indicator, clock, ride time, odometer, two trip meters and fuel economy information such as current range for the available fuel and current km/l data. A driver scrolls through the data using a trigger switch mounted by the left hand grip. This switch also resets functions such as the trip meters, ride time and clock. An AM/FM radio is standard on the Cross Country+óGÇP-ó, and the bike can be equipped with an iPod+é-« or satellite radio that plays through the bike's audio system. The audio display screen presents detailed information about the radio station currently playing, or the iPod+é-« track name, artist, satellite station and more.
The fairing also accommodates installation of switches controlling accessories such as heated handgrips.
These are available from Pure Victory Gear, as are accessories needed to store an iPod+é-« in the right saddlebag and play it through the bike's audio system. An accessory GPS unit can be mounted on the left handlebar using an accessory ball joint mount, and audio information from the GPS can be fed through the bike's audio system.
Other elements that are unique to the Cross Country+óGÇP-ó include:
- The Cross Country+óGÇP-ó makes full use of the advanced Victory CORE Technology+óGÇP-ó in its chassis. As a result, it is the lightest bike in its class, with the highest load capacity.
- Refl ective of Victory being "The New American Motorcycle," the Cross Country+óGÇP-ó has distinctive highway bars that complement the bike's styling. These forged aluminum bars can be cleanly equipped with accessory highway pegs or driving lights, and chrome covers are available for the horizontal top sections of the bars.
- The Cross Country+óGÇP-ó has fl oorboard-styled passenger footrests that serve as a secure, comfortable foothold.
- The Cross Country+óGÇP-ó is available in Solid Black, Solid Midnight Cherry and the Cross Country+óGÇP-ó exclusive Black and Graphite with Extreme Skulls.
CROSS ROADS+óGÇP-ó: A LOOK AT ITS UNIQUE FEATURES
Cross Roads+óGÇP-ó riders enjoy the protection of a windshield whose design was optimized through wind tunnel testing. The premium-quality Lexan windshield offers a driver excellent visibility and it protects the driver and passenger from wind, precipitation and road debris such as stones kicked up by other vehicles.
The windshield has extended lower sections - "Sideburns" - that improve the bike's aerodynamics and minimize buffeting. The windshield attaches securely to the bike's triple trees using four fasteners, and it can be installed or removed quickly and easily.
Accessory windshields of various heights are available from Pure Victory Gear, as are lower wind defl ectors that mount on the forks. The combination of an accessory tall windshield and lower wind deflectors will provide the most thorough protection and comfort for high-mileage touring riders.
