Volkswagen has sliced $2000 to $2500 from the recommended retail price of its Tiguan Allspace, bringing the seven seat SUV into line with the equivalent Tiguan five seaters.
Pillars of Volkswagen Australian line-up, the Tiguan duo are each available in three grades (excluding the five seat R version); with a choice of three engine tunes and either front-wheel-drive or 4MOTION.
The new, third generation Tiguan is due for this market in some 12 months. The Allspace’s successor, the Tayron, arrives toward at the end of next year. The two Allspace Life grades are reduced by $2000; the Elegance and R-Line by $2500. Volkswagen Marketing Communications Manager Michelle Rowney said that as the current generation seven seater would outlive its slightly smaller sibling, the brand had taken the opportunity to align pricing.
“Now, while there’s stock of both, it’s a simply a case of whether you personally prefer seven seats or a huge storage area or a slightly smaller and more responsive vehicle,” she said.
“Price is not a factor.”
