Some 100 examples of CUPRA's Formentor equipped with Matrix LED adaptive headlights, black leather and a unique alloy wheel design are available for sale from today.

Based on the CUPRA's single best-selling - and range topping - variant, the  Formentor VZx Matrix Edition is the first CUPRA to be equipped with these literally brilliant lamps that can shut off that part of the beam that shines on forward or oncoming traffic while maintaining full high-beam illumination elsewhere.

The Matrix Edition is equipped with a black leather interior – previously available only in the near-sold-out Formentor Rojo edition of 30 – and a distinctive alloy wheels design. The only options are matte or premium metallic paint and a panoramic glass sunroof.

CUPRA's Head of Product and Planning Jeff Shafer said that popularity of the top-line version of the Formentor – the "most CUPRA of CUPRA's ICE and PHEV ranges" – has spurred this new special edition.

"We see the instant response to these editions, and the VZx in general, as a real endorsement of CUPRA's pricing and positioning," Mr Shafer. "CUPRA isn't mainstream, we're not trying to be premium – we're uniquely focused on design and performance and our customers love that."
