Sydney 27-02-23 CUPRA's unique pair of Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles – the Leon VZe and Formentor VZe – are available for online order today ahead of delivery in the second half of this year.

The initial allocation of just over 100 Leon and Formentor VZes sold through shortly after release last year. The fresh PHEV supply follows the increase of Born BEVs for pre-order to 600 after the initial  400, that were released in late December, were sold.

CUPRA Australia Director Ben Wilks said the Barcelona based challenger brand is "recognising and rewarding the response of its newest market to CUPRA's unique blend of performance and style".

"Australia is in hot competition with other markets for CUPRA's BEVs and PHEVs," he said. "The response to Born, Leon and Formentor VZes demonstrates the desire for cutting edge zero- and low-emission vehicles.

 "In commuting circumstances, a VZe can be in in full EV mode almost all of the time. Both the Leon and the Formentor have a fully battery driven, zero emission range of some 50km. They re-charge from a conventional socket in a few hours.

"Over greater distances, or where EV chargers are still seldom seen, the Leon and Formentor have a proven Euro 6 turbo petrol engine for easy open road cruising. Even when the battery is run down, the VZe behaves likes a more conventional hybrid, using regenerative braking to replenish battery range.

"And unlike some worthy entrants from elsewhere, this Spanish duo is a pleasure to look at and to drive."
