2. GWM latest Hi4 Platform
GWM, at its Intelligent NEV Day, has launched its latest hybrid technology platform, Hi4 (Hybrid Intelligent 4WD), featuring advanced EV-based powertrain technology designed to optimize efficiency in all road conditions and driving scenarios.
GWM Hi4 platform features two powertrains with a maximum system power of 340 kW, covering A-C class vehicle models. The e-hybrid powertrain achieves an industry-leading thermal efficiency of 41.5%, which is made possible by its advanced combustion system, high-pressure direct injection, and low-pressure exhaust gas recirculation technology. In addition, the Hi4 platform's intelligent energy management and control strategies provide optimal operating efficiency and improve vehicle energy efficiency by about 8% compared to traditional energy management.
The Hi4 platform also offers a range of over 100km on pure electric power, thanks to its high-capacity battery pack, which uses advanced lithium-ion technology to deliver long-lasting power. Fast charging energy efficiency that reaches 97%, and charging from 30% to 80% in ambient temperature takes less than 30 minutes, thanks to its high-voltage charging technology and intelligent charging management system.
"The Hi4 platform represents a major breakthrough in hybrid technology, providing an innovative combination of efficiency, safety, and value that has been previously considered impossible," said the Powertrain Technical Officer at GWM.
The GWM iTVC (intelligent Torque Vectoring Control) system is a new dynamic control technology that relies on milliseconds-grade high-precision sensing of vehicle speed through motor rotation. GWM iTVC rapidly distributes and dynamically adjusts the torque between the front and rear axles in milliseconds, effectively preventing slipping on low-adhesion road surfaces and improving handling stability and driving safety during turns.
The electromechanical coupling transmission system is an innovative design of two electromechanical coupling units, covering almost the entire speed range of the engine, meeting the driving needs of users in all scenarios.
"The Hi4 platform provides powerful performance and lower fuel consumption, and with its innovative dual-motor and dual-axis control functions, it also improves handling stability and driving safety during turns," said the Powertrain Technical Officer, Mr. Liu.
"Initially, people buy SUV not just because of its looks and higher ride position, but naturally for its 4WD capabilities, but the main pain point is price. So in the ICE era, GWM successfully capture that and sacrifice the 4WD capabilities to offer more affordable soft roaders, but GWM never forgets its strength in 4WD, and in the electrified era, GWM manages to use the electric motors tech to realize the 4WD functions at the cost equivalent of 2WD. Again, As an SUV leading brand, GWM HAVAL make SUV the way it should be." Said the CTO, Mr. Liu.
3. GWM Global Expansion under ONE GWM

In the two fields of new energy and intelligence, Great Wall Motor (GWM) has completed a flat, networked, and decentralized layout of its whole industrial chain, something few of its peers can match.
As early as 2021, GWM announced that it would achieve "carbon neutrality" by 2045. To date, GWM has built an outstanding "photovoltaic + distributed energy storage + centralized energy storage" energy system, and has completed the layout of its entire "solar energy/battery/hydrogen energy/vehicle power" value chain, which will be extended overseas in future.
In the photovoltaic field, GWM has accelerated the industrialization of perovskite solar photovoltaic technology based on its core technologies. Thanks to self-developed perovskite photovoltaic modules, GWM was the first to break the technical barrier of 20% photon-to-electron conversion efficiency, holding the world record and is continuing to make further progress.

In the vehicle power field, through setting out and implementing its hybrid, pure electric, and hydrogen power technology development plans in parallel, GWM was able to accelerate its vehicle electrification transformation, seizing the high ground in new energy technology.
With regard to power battery technology, SVOLT Energy Technology Co., Ltd. has established an industrial layout covering multiple chemical power batteries, including lithium iron phosphate, lithium manganese phosphate, cobalt-free, ternary, sodium ion and solid-state batteries, and now offers three solutions, characterized by high cost efficiency, long range, and high performance, respectively.
With regard to electric drive technology, HYCET Technology Co., Ltd.'s world-class electric drive products are focus on the four dimensions of "integration, high voltage, high speed and high efficiency", with two platforms, M and L. Its existing product series, ranging from 100 kW to 220 kW, covers Class A to Class D commercial models.
With regard to hybrid technology, GWM's technical route has included the parallel development of multi-architecture and horizontal and vertical layouts, making it first in the world to launch a two gear, two motor DHT (L.E.M.O.N.), with performance and efficiency advantages in all speed ranges and scenarios. Off-road vehicles with vertical P2 parallel architecture are also planned, and the GWM-developed 3.0T engine and 9HAT hybrid gearbox offer consumers an experience combining extraordinary power, lower-carbon and environmental friendliness.
The change the automobile industry is undergoing is not merely one of form of energy, but also one of consumer experiences, which must be supported through provision of a pluggable smart chassis capable of continuous development, and a warm space featuring perception and intelligence.
In terms of intelligent driving technology, GWM's self-development capability covers all areas, ranging from sensing hardware to computing platforms. In terms of sensing hardware, GWM has developed 17-megapixel car cameras and 4D millimeter-wave radar which form an intelligent driving hardware architecture in conjunction with a high-compute capacity platform.
In terms of software ecology, GWM has developed a full-stack of application software, and urban NOH products, continuously extending these to all urban scenarios. As of March 2023, the assisted driving mileage of GWM consumers had exceeded 36 million kilometers.
Intelligent data systems are the soul of intelligent driving. GWM has completed an advanced industrial layout ranging from intelligent data systems and computing centers to its Drive GPT autonomous driving cognitive model. The autonomous driving data embodied in GWM's intelligent systems has now exceeded 500,000 hours of virtual driving experience learning time, equivalent to 62,000 years of human driving experience.
In intelligent cockpit technology, GWM has sold more than 200,000 vehicles equipped with its high-compute capacity cockpit platforms. GWM's latest 'Hi4 stands for Hybrid Intelligent 4WD, which is a new hybrid technology that combines intelligent features with a four-wheel drive system. This innovative technology was developed by GWM based on the concept of efficiency, performance, and price, which are the industry "Impossible Trinity".
The Hi4 system uses a dual-motor design with both parallel and series connections between the front and rear axles, which allows for an excellent driving experience with the performance of a 4WD system and the energy efficiency of a 2WD system.

Combined with the iTVC intelligent torque vector control system, the front and rear axle torque can be intelligently distributed and dynamically adjusted in real-time, improving vehicle stability, safety, and comfort.
iTVC (Intelligent Torque Vector Control System)
iTVC (Intelligent Torque Vector Control System) analyzes driver power demand, vehicle speed, driving mode, road slope, steering wheel angle, motor speed, and lateral swing speed, as well as road condition information from cameras, radar, and other sensors. It intelligently identifies different driving scenarios and optimizes the front and rear axle torque distribution in real-time, achieving a perfect balance between vehicle efficiency, power, and stability in all driving scenarios. In cornering scenarios, it integrates with the Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) system to precisely increase the rear axle torque during entry to enable faster cornering, calculate the trajectory and match it with driver intention in real-time for strong tracking, and increase the front axle torque during exit to enhance stability.

The Hi4 vehicle has a smart system that can switch between 9 different driving modes based on real-time road conditions. It can use both electric and hybrid engines and can switch between 2-wheel and 4-wheel drive, as well as different transmission modes. The system also allows for energy recovery during braking. This ensures that the vehicle will always use the best driving mode for any situation, making it adaptable to any driving condition.
- City driving: It switches between pure electric 2-wheel drive, series mode, and 1st gear direct drive mode to avoid using the engine in low-power and low-efficiency ranges.
- Quick acceleration/climbing hills in the city: It switches between pure electric 4-wheel drive and 1st gear direct drive mode. When using pure electric mode, the two motors are dynamically adjusted for high efficiency. When using direct drive mode, the engine works in the high-efficiency range with the shortest transmission path and highest efficiency.
- High-speed cruising: It uses 2nd gear direct drive mode to keep the engine working in the high-efficiency range with the shortest transmission path and highest efficiency.
- High-speed acceleration/climbing hills: It intelligently switches between parallel 2-wheel drive and 4-wheel drive to ensure that the engine is working in the high-efficiency range and the remaining power is provided by the battery.
- Deceleration and braking: It switches between single-axis energy recovery and dual-axis energy recovery mode.
Intelligent Energy Management System
The system will analyze driving style, environmental temperature, slope, power demand, driving status, radar data, navigation data, and road conditions to form the basis for energy management.
Based on this basis, the system controls six subsystems that work together: predictive start-stop management, adaptive energy recovery management, intelligent engine operation management, predictive thermal management, intelligent SOC management, and intelligent torque vector control system. This ensures optimal operating efficiency and improves vehicle energy efficiency by about 8% compared to traditional energy management.
Powertrains Planning for various segments

There are two hybrid-specific engine options available, a 1.5L and a 1.5T, both achieving an optimal thermal efficiency of 41.5% using the best current industry technology.
The powertrain includes a 70 kW Hi4 front-drive module assembly, combined with a high-power 150 kW Hi4 rear-drive module assembly, which allows for dual-axis four-wheel drive.
There are two battery options available, with capacities of 19.94 kWh and 27.5 kWh, providing a pure electric range of over 100 km for the entire vehicle.
Powertrain One: the all-new high thermal efficiency 1.5 litre e-hybrid engine
It features a super high compression ratio of 16:1, which is currently the highest in the gasoline engine field, resulting in lower fuel consumption.
The engine produces a peak power of 80 kW and a peak torque of 135 Nm.
It utilizes Atkinson cycle, high compression ratio, a 350 bar high-pressure injection system, intake VVT, LP-EGR system, electronic water pump, electronic thermostat, and other friction-reducing technologies to achieve leading power and economic performance in the industry.

- GWM next-gen medium SUV (World Premiere)
GWM is debuting its next-gen medium SUV at Auto Shanghai and on-sale in Chinese market first from May, 2023, paving the way to introduce this model to overseas markets.
The internal code for this model is B07, which is positioned as a new energy intelligent family SUV. The latest GWM Hi4 technology will be applied in this model first, which boasts its all-wheel drive capabilities at the cost equivalent to a 2WD hardware thanks to the advanced EV-based powertrain that contains 3 motors (one engine+2 e-motors).
The new model boasts its fuel economy as a family SUV, 5.5 litre per 100km even when its 20kWh batteries on low SOC.
WLTP range over 1200km for a full tank and fully charged 105km pure electric range.
"GWM's Hi4 tech and the 2nd Gen e-hybrid tech is different from its established competitors. Even when the battery runs out, the car can work as a normal unplugged hybrid, with good fuel economy. Traditional PHEV loses all the efficiency gained by the short 50-60km EV range due to heavier battery weight using an ICE engine, and make the car not very energy efficient after all. So in order to differ from the traditional perception, we believe it's fair to call it "EV+" thanks to the EV-like drive feel and the ability to plus all the 1000km range you'll get even when battery is low." said the Chief Product Leader of B07.
"We did lots of surveys across different consumers in many countries, one of the education barriers is that most people are just not used to charge the vehicles like their phones. But with the GWM B07 "EV+", even when customers forgot to charge their cars, they still get the efficiency as a normal unplugged hybrid."

With the new generation Coffee OS intelligent cockpit system(12.3 inch infotainment screen +12.3 inch dashboard connected with 10-inch W-HUD) and Coffee intelligent driving technology, drivers can expect an all-around value experience. The GWM B07 is also the first to be equipped with the GWM' new hybrid architecture Hi4, bringing "the most efficient under all working conditions, and worry-free driving under all scenarios" user experience effects.

Shanhai Cannon is a large high-performance luxury pickup truck equipped with a 3.0T V6 and integrating cutting-edge technology from the Great Wall brand, creating a benchmark for the high-end pickup truck industry. Having the advantages of large size, high power, visual luxury, and expandability.
The Shanhai Cannon pickup truck has a length of 5440mm, a width of 1991mm, a height of 1924mm, and a wheelbase of 3350mm. The ultra long wheelbase has a wide and luxurious space comparable to that of a full-size SUV, with a 60mm widening of the lateral space and an increase in the width of the elbow pillow, making the driving and riding space more comfortable. 1140L super large capacity, more fun to ride. In 2018, China's first hydrogen technology center has been established by GWM and been put into use. One of SVOLT's key achievements in this area was the removal of the rare element, cobalt, from the production of lithium-ion batteries, which allowed for reduced production costs of 5%-15% and a drop in cell BOM cost by 5%.
