Great Wall Motors has confirmed its new dual cab utility will be called the Steed when it launches later this year.
Great Wall Motors Australia (GWMA) Managing Director, Parker Shi, said the decision to go with the Steed nameplate was unanimous with the local team.
"In its home country, the Great Wall ute is called Wingle, which translates to 'horse'. That's why it has been called the Steed in the United Kingdom and why we have chosen that name," Mr Shi said.
"With its tough, rugged durability, we're confident the Great Wall Steed will become a new best friend for many Australian farmers and tradesmen."
The line-up will include three dual cab versions – a 4x4 diesel, 4x2 diesel and 4x2 petrol. Standard safety features will include ESP and six airbags as standard on all three models.
The company recently announced it would assume control of its Australian and NZ operations on July 1, 2016, pledging continued service for the existing customer base and dealer network.
The new Great Wall Steed will go on sale early in Q4.
