- Peugeot's all-new 5008 SUV has seven-seat versatility
- New Peugeot 5008 leverages PSA's highly awarded EMP2 platform
- New Peugeot 5008 gets innovative first-, second- and third-row seating for space maximisation
- Autonomous emergency braking and high levels of standard safety equipment
Peugeot has launched its all-new 5008 in Australia and while the name has not changed, everything else has.
Designed from the ground up to satisfy the insatiable global appetite for Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs), the all-new 5008 has morphed from a regular MPV to an extremely capable and practical seven-seat SUV – perfect for Australian families and those with an active lifestyle.
Underpinning the 5008 SUV is the highly-awarded Efficient Modular Platform 2 (EMP2) that also underpins the 2014 and 2017 European Car of the Year award-winning Peugeot 308 hatch and 3008 SUV.
Strong, light and scalable, EMP2 allowed engineers to preserve the nimble handling traits of the 308 hatch and 3008 SUV while adding a third seating row, maximising interior space and increasing flexibility.
Featuring Peugeot's second generation i-Cockpit interior, all functions and features are wrapped around the driver with high-mounted instruments working in tandem with Peugeot's signature small steering wheel, all combining to deliver a sense of comfort and safety.
Inside, the 5008 takes its interior design direction from the highly-awarded 3008 SUV.
Peugeot i-Cockpit is further enhanced on GT-Line and GT models by the Amplify ambience function which allows interior scents (via an inbuilt diffuser), lighting, driver massage, drive mode and ambience settings to be customised.
While medium in size, the 5008 SUV has more boot, leg and shoulder room than some of its larger rivals, offering one of the largest boots in the segment at 780 litres.
Flexibility was central to the 5008's design ethos with a configurable seating package allowing for each one of the three second-row seating positions to be folded, tilted or moved individually – the only vehicle in the class to offer this feature.
Uniquely, the 5008 is the only SUV on the Australian market to offer Isofix and top tether child seat fixing points to all second-row occupants – allowing fitment of three child seats benefitting from the latest restraint technology.
Third-row seats can be individually set in place or removed to give as much or as little boot space as desired.
Outside, Allure variants convey a sense of style with the Peugeot Lion taking pride of place at the centre of the upright grille, flanked by chrome and black headlamps incorporating LED Daytime Running Lights.
From the side the vehicle features premium detailing, including chrome highlights for the glass house and black lower wheel guards which both add to the vehicles' SUV stance and protect the bodywork from any damage from light off-road work.
Distinct from Allure models, GT Line and GT models feature sporty design elements including:
- Peugeot equaliser grille, bespoke front bumper and lights
- Sporty amplified engine note
- Exclusive interior trim and steering wheel
- Red instrument illumination
- Exclusive GT-Line or GT badging
Building on the sporty look, 5008 GT's response to driver input has been sharpened with firmer steering, altered throttle mapping, sharper gear changes for the automatic transmission and greater dynamic abilities thanks to firmer suspension and a larger wheel and tyre combination.
All occupants are protected with a full suite of safety equipment including standard Autonomous Emergency Braking, 360-degree surround cameras and curtain airbags that stretch to include third-row occupants.
Customers can choose from two drivetrains with Allure and GT Line models powered by a 121kW, 240Nm, 1.6L turbo-petrol and top-of-the-line GT variants powered by a 133kW, 400Nm turbo-diesel. Both engines meet Euro-6 emissions regulations.
Peugeot Australia Managing Director, Anouk Poelmann, says new 5008's arrival completes Peugeot's Australian SUV range.
"The SUV segment is without doubt the most important market for any marque and now Australian consumers have access to a truly French designed, engineered and built SUV," Ms Poelmann said.
"New Peugeot 5008 SUV's theme is: 'a new dimension of SUV' because it fits right between the medium and large SUV segments – but those exterior measurements belie a vehicle that affords owners significantly more space and flexibility than larger vehicles.
"The 5008 brings all of the great traits of the automotive world to the SUV segment: flexibility, performance, safety and technology, all wrapped-up in a beautifully designed package both inside and out.
"We believe the all-new 5008 delivers a truly compelling and competitive product to SUV buyers who value practicality but do not wish to compromise on technology and style," Ms Poelmann added,
The Peugeot 5008 is available from today and carries a recommended retail price of $42,990 for the Allure, $46,990 for GT Line and $52,990 for the flagship GT.
The new PEUGEOT 5008 SUV is manufactured in Rennes, while the Trémery and Douvrin sites produce the powertrains for every 5008. The new PEUGEOT 5008 SUV sports the 'Origine France Garantie' (Made in France) label.

ALL-NEW 5008 – FROM MPV TO SUV
The segment has changed a lot since 2009, when the first-generation PEUGEOT 5008 was released, and since then a great number of SUVs have entered the market in almost every segment, offering users the attractive combination of status, sophisticated technology, impressive practicality and driving emotions. In short, it lets drivers go to new places and experience new things.
In 2012 Peugeot set itself the ambitious task of releasing five new SUVs in less than a year, the brand offensive getting underway with the unveiling of the 2008 SUV and continued in May when the spectacular new 3008 SUV appeared.
In China, the 3008 was refreshed and an extended version of the new 3008 SUV brought to market as the 4008 SUV. The 5008 SUV was the fifth SUV to be unveiled by Peugeot within the year.
So why make the new PEUGEOT 5008 an SUV rather than a C-segment seven-seat people-mover?
The answer is, firstly, because the people-carrier segment is losing popularity while SUV demand continues to grow. Secondly, SUVs are being favoured over traditional sedans and station wagons as buyers become ever more eager to break the mould of standard vehicle profiles.
Some buyers no longer want to be pigeonholed as drivers of utilitarian family vehicles and everyone just wants to enjoy the SUV experience that transforms otherwise tedious trips into opportunities for driver and passengers to share a pleasant adventure.
In light of all this the design choice for the new Peugeot 5008 was obvious: it would have to be an SUV.
FINDING THE RIGHT FIT
Many drivers are drawn to the SUV concept and the positive images it projects, but they are also looking for volume, roominess, comfort and utility compatible with the diverse aspects of their active lives.
For these buyers, standard SUVs are neither a good fit (too small and lacking in modularity) nor a good deal (bigger SUVs are too expensive and too imposing) and even current SUV owners who love the design and status often want more volume and versatility.
To that end, the new PEUGEOT 5008 SUV has what it takes to stand out as the benchmark for its class.
By virtue of its unique qualities, new PEUGEOT 5008 SUV aims to achieve three objectives:
- to pursue the brand's strategy to move upmarket
- to be an international success
- to become the benchmark seven-seat, in the medium SUV segment
WHATEVER YOUR TASTE, PEUGEOT'S SECOND-GENERATION i-COCKPIT APPEALS TO ALL SENSES
Peugeot's trailblazing i-Cockpit design, which aims to increase visibility and reduce driver distraction, enters its second generation of design with the all-new 5008 and 3008 SUVs, with features to satisfy all senses.
First introduced on the 208 hatch, the i-Cockpit design has become the flagbearer of interior design for almost a decade.
Highly awarded, the all-new cabin design improves on a formula that debuted on 2009's 208 hatch. The 5008, however, refines and improves the overall i-Cockpit design.
It has inherited several family traits from its Peugeot 2008 and 3008 SUV stablemates, characteristics that make the Peugeot family of vehicles among the most distinguished, modern and stylistically consistent currently on the market.
It starts with the truly unique driver's environment featuring the latest version of Peugeot's innovative - almost futuristic - i-Cockpit, offering occupants a novel driving experience that both surprises and delights.
The interior has it all: a delightfully compact steering wheel, an 8" capacitive touchscreen display and a spectacular 12.3", high-resolution digital head-up instrument panel which impresses with its superior graphics, elegant animations and eye-pleasing transitions between modes.
The screen can also be individually customised and configured to display dials, navigation and the onboard computer in two graphic styles.
The responsive, user-friendly touchscreen puts all necessary information at the driver's fingertips and seven centrally-located, satin-chrome dashboard switches give quick access to the main passenger comfort and safety functions including radio, air-conditioning, satellite navigation, vehicle settings, telephone, apps and hazard warning lights.
That is only the beginning of the new PEUGEOT 5008 SUV's sensory experiences with GT Line and GT versions also featuring an extra button, next to the dashboard switches, which takes things up a notch.
The new PEUGEOT i-Cockpit is more of everything. More refined, more advanced, more connected, more intuitive. It also offers more emotional satisfaction and potential customisation.
With the i-Cockpit® Amplify option (standard on GT Line and GT versions), pushing a button on the middle of the dashboard instantly stimulates four sensual experiences at once:
- sight, through adjustments to screen colour and compartment lighting intensity
- hearing, through musical ambience settings and acoustic profiles
- touch, through multi-point seat massage programmes
- smell, through its fragrance diffuser (see below).
The vehicle offers passengers two sensory environments to begin with: 'Boost', for energetic driving, and 'Relax', for a calmer experience. Both can be fully customised; accentuate the pleasure of driver and passengers alike and guarantee a unique, unforgettable on-board experience.
Quality is also de rigueur with the i-Cockpit Amplify range of fragrances. They have been developed with Scentys and Antoine Lie, an internationally renowned perfumer, for a luxury aromatic experience.
There are three levels of diffusion intensity and each of the three fragrances on offer has its own personality:
- Cosmic Cuir is the brand's sensual, vibrant signature perfume
- Aerodrive is a crisp, stimulating scent with verve ('Boost' mode default)
- Harmony Wood is a grounded, down-tempo fragrance ('Relax' mode default).
A Driver Sport Pack also boosts dynamic sensations with a sportier engine sound, giving a more responsive accelerator pedal and sportier power steering. It also adds sports-style gear changes
New Peugeot 5008 SUV offers occupants two pre-selected sensory environments 'Boost', which is in tune with a dynamic driving style and 'Relax', which brings a mellower ambience. Both can be fully customised to accentuate the pleasure of driver and passengers alike, guaranteeing a unique on-board experience.
The experience is enhanced by interior details that magnify the quality, modern feel of the passenger compartment. The new electric impulse automatic gearbox control, for example, exemplifies the modern elegance of the interior through the meticulous selection of leather and chrome.
5008 BRINGS A NEW DIMENSION TO DIMENSIONS
The all-new PEUGEOT 5008 SUV's 2.84m wheelbase makes it a very liveable SUV courtesy of the Efficient Modular Platform (EMP2) which increases the wheelbase by 16.5cm over that of the Peugeot 3008 SUV. It is also 11cm wider and 11cm longer than the original 5008, creating an extra 60mm more knee room for second-row passengers.
Its 4.64m overall length makes for a compact yet spacious vehicle, its conservative proportions and extra length making the best possible passenger space.
Optimised architecture is only part of the package on offer and the new PEUGEOT 5008 is more than just an SUV, standing apart with an innovative seating configuration that puts three individual matching tilt/fold seats in the second row and two separate removable folding seats in the third row.
The three individual second-row seats of the new PEUGEOT 5008 SUV are all the same width so passengers enjoy the same comfort. They have adjustable length, optimal knee room and can be reconfigured for a variety of passenger and loading requirements.
The seats, each one featuring three-point ISOfix anchor points, also offer five different inclination angles and feature adjustable headrests that drop down when the seats are empty, maximising the view rearward.
They can also be folded from the outside or from the boot to form a rigid floor, the seatback covers making a flat, seamless surface.
The new PEUGEOT 5008 SUV's third seating row comprises two seats which fold into the boot floor. Two boot floor covers form a flat surface when the seats are folded and tuck away behind the third-row seats when they are in use.
Access to the third row is gained through controls on the tops of the second-row side-seatbacks. In just one movement, the second-row side seats tilt and slide forward for easy third-row entry.
Clever design also makes the third-row seats, each weighing less than 11kg, easily removable courtesy of a single control. Removed, boot volume expands to 1060 litres, the space optimised by a flat, uncluttered floor and 676mm load sill height.
Courtesy of the folding front passenger's seat, the all-new PEUGEOT 5008 SUV can carry loads measuring up to 3.20m long.
New PEUGEOT 5008 SUV's cleverly designed interior is spacious, functional and practical, meeting all of life's challenges and adapting to every situation.
Its appeal is increased by a host of accessories that includes 12-volt sockets, a boot cover, blinds, aircraft-style trays on the backs of the front seats, hooks and cupholders. A variety of storage spaces are distributed throughout the passenger compartment to enhance the on-board experience.
The design, equipment, on-board technology, high-quality materials and overall attention to detail distinguish the passenger compartment of the all-new PEUGEOT 5008 SUV from any other in its market, making the interior the right place to take a seat and enjoy the special experience of travelling in comfort, serenity, and luxury.
A smart electric tailgate, standard on GT-Line and GT, gives hands-free activation and opens and closes quickly and effortlessly, simply by placing a foot under the rear bumper.
ALL-NEW 5008 IS PRACTICAL AS WELL AS PRETTY
All the hallmarks of a real SUV abound in the all-new PEUGEOT 5008 from its long, horizontal bonnet and vertical face through to its raised body line.
The inspired design of the new PEUGEOT 5008 SUV conveys power and respect, each line and curve perfectly positioned to project balance and uniformity and the contours elegant and harmonious.
Compared to its predecessor, the all-new PEUGEOT 5008 SUV is 19cm longer overall to take advantage of the longer 16.5cm wheelbase but its height, 1.64m with the standard roof bars, remains unchanged, giving the vehicle a long and very dynamic profile.
Its striking form is accentuated by a raised body plane, the top trim beautifully framing the glass house to accentuate an elongated roof that suggests fluidity and agility. GT Line and GT variants feature a contrasting 'Black Diamond' gloss black roof which projects even more prestige, elegance and modernity into the overall appearance.
There is no doubting that all-new PEUGEOT 5008 SUV emanates an air of true luxury.
The protective elements that enhance it include 18-and 19-inch alloy wheels (model and specification dependent) and longitudinal, profiled aluminium roof bars which add a subtle blend of character and sophistication to the vehicle contours.
Everything comes together in a modern, almost futuristic design that avoids fussiness or ostentatious style.
The stretched profile both highlights the volume of the passenger compartment and gives occupants a pleasant feeling of just how spacious and accommodating the vehicle is on the inside.
The wide, chrome-trimmed radiator grille has at its centre the Peugeot Lion which carries the power and fluidity of the vehicle. The grille is flanked by powerful headlamps which give a piercing, feline gaze.
LED high-beam headlamps are standard on GT-Line and GT variants and are highlighted by a chequerboard chrome grille and a distinctive front bumper as well as Nera black door mirror shells (on GT Line) or chrome-plated mirror shells (GT).
GT also features wider wheel arches to accommodate its exclusive 19-inch alloy wheels.
At the rear the design expresses strength and security with flattering curves and a gloss black strip – which sets apart the latest breed of PEUGEOT SUVs - beneath the rear windscreen. The PEUGEOT logo and brand name are at the centre of the strip, which connects the signature LED 'claw effect' rear lights which clearly mark new 5008 SUV as a PEUGEOT vehicle.
The rear profile, which includes an extra-wide tailgate and low boot sill, also hints at the overall spaciousness and practicality of the luggage area.
The new 5008 SUV is a superbly designed vehicle that is lower, more spacious and less bulky than many of its competitors and, regardless of the angle from which it is viewed, the all-new PEUGEOT 5008 SUV is a finely crafted vehicle sparing nothing in its detail, its design elements forging this impression while conveying elegance, class and good taste.
5008 BLURS THE LINE BETWEEN GRAND TOURER AND SUV
Peugeot has defined new 5008 SUV by giving it the driving pleasure of a grand touring car, achieving that combination of comfort and roadholding through the use of the new EMP2 platform.
As well, it has tuned the suspension for each engine and used electrically-assisted steering to find the best compromise between the levels of softness and firmness needed on almost every outing. The electrically-assisted steering also gives the new 5008 an impressive turning radius.
Platform modularity means it can be adapted to a variety of vehicle sizes by utilising 55mm wheelbase extensions. Compared to the 3008 SUV for example, the all-new PEUGEOT 5008 SUV has three extensions for an extra 165mm wheelbase length.
Company engineers had a clear mission when it came to the all-new PEUGEOT 5008 SUV: to make this imposing SUV a leader in handling and driving enjoyment by maximising its handling with precise steering feel.
The Driver Sport Pack - also available on the 308 and all-new 3008 SUV - further heightens the senses of sight, touch and hearing with:
- stronger, more taut steering assistance
- more responsive accelerator pedal action
- greater engine and gearbox agility (enhanced by paddle shifters on automatic gearbox versions)
- amplified engine sound for a sportier feel (with digital amplifier that enhances passenger compartment acoustics)
- colour graphics (instrument panel and touchscreen) and display of dynamic driving stats on the instrument panel including current power output, boost pressure and acceleration along both axes.
The all-new 5008 may be an SUV but it is first and foremost a Peugeot and despite its larger size it boasts astonishing levels of agility and safety, making even the shortest trip or routine outing into a pleasurable experience, occupants secure in the knowledge the new 5008 SUV is one of the safest, most enjoyable vehicles on the road.
This newest Peugeot is an invitation to travel in luxury with a number of features designed and fitted for the comfort of all on board. They include:
- body-hugging front seats featuring an optional multi-point massage system for the driver's seat (Standard on GT, optional on GT-Line)
- an optional large panoramic opening glass roof featuring tilt / slide and mood lighting
- a smartphone induction charging plate on the centre console to automatically recharge devices compliant with the Qi 1.1 standard
- excellent sound insulation
SAFETY IS STANDARD WITH ALL-NEW 5008
At the heart of the Peugeot 5008 is a core structure designed to protect occupants, which is overlaid with a range of technologies and advanced safety features to ensure all occupants feel safe and secure.
This starts with the standard fitment of leading edge Autonomous Emergency Brake Technology and a vast array of active and passive safety systems, including:
- A full suite of airbags, including curtain airbags that extend to third row passengers
- Lane Departure Warning
- Active Lane Keeping Assistance (Standard on GT-Line and GT, optional on Allure)
- Driver Attention Warning
- High Beam Assistance
- Speed Sign Recognition and Speed Suggestion
- Adaptive Cruise Control with stop feature
- Park Assist
- Visio Park (360° vision)
- Exclusive optional Advanced Grip Control, including new Hill Assist Descent Control (HADC)
Drivers can also rely on a wide selection of driving assistance systems to fully appreciate the agility of the new PEUGEOT 5008 SUV. These functions can be activated or deactivated using the 'Vehicle Settings' menu.
SAFETY IN DETAIL
Advanced Grip Control
This optional system bolsters traction through the following features:
- optimised slip resistance with five grip modes (normal, snow, mud, sand, ESP OFF) selected using a central console dial
- 18" mud and snow (all-season) tyres.
- Hill Assist Descent Control (HADC), activated by a button on the central console. This is a new function which helps drivers safely navigate steep gradients. It innovates by maintaining a very low – 3km/h - descent speed, maintaining safety and control in difficult situations.
Automatic Emergency Braking System (AEBS) and Distance Alert
Standard on all versions of the all-new 5008 SUV, Distance Alert warns if there is a risk of collision with a vehicle or pedestrian ahead.
The Automatic Emergency Braking System (AEBS) activates if the driver fails to react in a timely manner by applying the brakes and helps avoid or reduce the severity of an impact by reducing vehicle speed without any action on the part of the driver.
The system reacts to both stationary and moving vehicles travelling in the same direction and also to pedestrians on the road. (At this stage of its development it does not detect bicycles, motorcycles, animals, or inanimate objects.)
The Automatic Emergency Braking System (AEBS) is enabled when the vehicle is moving at speeds of:
- between 5 and 140 km/h if another moving vehicle is detected;
- under 80 km/h if a stationary vehicle is detected;
- below 60 km/h if a pedestrian is detected.
Active Lane Departure Warning system (ALDWS)
Standard on GT-Line and GT and optional on Allure variants, the ALDWS uses a camera that recognises both broken and solid painted lane markings, this system detects when the vehicle drifts unintentionally across them.
To ensure safety, both a visual signal and a warning sound are triggered if the vehicle is moving faster than 80 km/h or image analysis from the on-board camera detects reduced driver attention and the car is swerving.
When moving at a speed between 65 and 180 km/h, the Active Lane Departure warning system also corrects the vehicle's trajectory if an involuntary lane change is imminent. It does this by gradually steering the vehicle back on course.
The feature can be overridden by the driver if the vehicle's trajectory is intentional, such as swerving to avoid an object ahead for example, by holding the steering wheel steady. The directional indicator also disables the trajectory correction.
Allure models offer lane detection and provide a visible warning, but does not offer steering intervention.
Driver Attention Warning System
A standard feature on the all-new PEUGEOT 5008 SUV Allure is the Rest Reminder which sounds a warning and displays a message prompting the driver to take a break if it detects the vehicle has been driven continuously at over 65 km/h for two hours.
GT-Line and GT models takes it one step further with the Driver Attention Warning System complementing the Rest Reminder. It evaluates vehicle movement using a camera mounted at the top of the windscreen.
It assesses driver awareness by comparing lane markings with the vehicle trajectory, detecting any swerving and, when activated, sounds an alarm and displays warning messages (e.g: 'Be careful' or 'Rest') which vary according to the level of urgency.
Peugeot Smartbeam Assistance (GT Line, GT)
At night, the windscreen-mounted camera analyses detected light sources and automatically switches between high and dipped headlight beams, according to traffic and lighting conditions. This maximises use of high beam in the interest of safety and optimises vision in poor light conditions.
Speed Sign Recognition and Speed Suggestion
Standard on all versions, the windscreen-mounted camera recognises and interprets road signs marking the beginning or end of speed limit zones and displays the corresponding speed on the instrument panel.
The system also obtains speed limit information from the vehicle's navigational maps (special speed limit indications, such as those that apply to heavy trucks, are not displayed).
Speed Suggestion, which lets drivers set vehicle speed to the speed detected by the camera by pushing the cruise control 'MEM' button, completes the package.
Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop feature (ACC Stop)
The Adaptive Cruise Control system of the new Peugeot 5008 uses a radar unit with a 150-metre range. It is mounted in the centre of the front bumper to monitor followed traffic.
When driving at speeds between 30 and 180 km/h, ACC Stop maintains the cruising speed set by the driver and stays a safe distance from the vehicle ahead, the distance decided by the driver using predetermined 'far', 'normal', and 'close' settings.
The ACC Stop system detects vehicles ahead that are moving in the same direction and automatically adapts the Peugeot 5008's speed to that of the vehicle detected.
Using the engine and normal braking systems (thus activating the brake lights), it maintains a safe and constant following distance, even when the vehicle ahead comes to a complete stop.
Active Blind Spot Monitoring system (Standard GT-Line and GT, optional on Allure)
When driving at speeds between 12 and 140km/h, this system warns driver when a car, truck, or two-wheeled vehicle is in a blind spot if its presence poses a potential danger, flashing a light on the corresponding door mirror when a vehicle is detected.
This system works in tandem with the Active Lane Departure Warning system. If the driver starts to change lanes while the turn signal is activated and a vehicle is detected in the relevant blind spot, the door mirror warning indicator will light up and the lane departure system will attempt to correct the vehicle's path to avoid a collision.
Visiopark 2
New Peugeot 5008 SUV is equipped with 180-degree video cameras positioned on the lift-up rear door and the radiator grille. Together they provide a view of the vehicle's immediate surroundings and display the image on the centre touchscreen.
Automatically engaged when reverse gear is selected, the parking aid sensors provide additional data by giving a real-time, 360-degree aerial view of the vehicle and its immediate surrounds during the parking procedure, complete with guidelines which rotate with the steering wheel.
If obstacles are detected behind the vehicle the system automatically zooms-in. More views are available on request.
Park Assist
Ultrasonic sensors on the sides of the vehicle allow Park Assist to play a more active role in parking. Sensors on both front and rear bumpers detect parking spaces large enough to accommodate new Peugeot 5008 and Park Assist automatically steers the vehicle into the spot.
Acceleration, braking and gear changes are managed by the driver and Park Assist provides visual and audible cues and other information to guarantee safety when the vehicle is entering or leaving a parking spot.
Drivers can override the steering process at any time, simply by taking control of the steering wheel.
Park Assist manages both parallel and perpendicular parking.
PEUGEOT 5008 IS A MOBILE TECH CENTRE
Peugeot's all-new 5008 SUV is a truly contemporary vehicle and functions such as Mirror Screen, Carplay and standard 3D navigation ensure drivers stay connected without stress.
The 3D navigation system displays buildings and landmarks while taking driver preference into account. One turn of the steering wheel-mounted dial switches the navigation system from the 8.0" capacitive touchscreen to the 12.3" high-resolution digital head-up instrument panel for easier reading.
The Mirror Screen function displays a copy of the driver's smartphone screen on the vehicle's touchscreen for easy app access and is compatible with Android MirrorLink, Android Auto and Apple CarPlayTM (for iPhone 5 and later).
Pressing a button on the steering wheel activates smartphone voice recognition (Android S-Voice or Apple Siri) so drivers can keep their eyes on the road while safely placing calls, selecting music, reading and sending text messages or requesting an itinerary.
PEUGEOT 5008 – EFFICIENT INSIDE, OUTSIDE AND UNDER THE BONNET
The new PEUGEOT 5008 SUV vehicle range perfectly matches the strategy developed by the brand. The 5008 range incorporates:
- the comfortable, well-equipped Allure;
- the highly-equipped, sporty GT Line variant and;
- the exclusive and dynamic GT.
Whatever variant of the all-new PEUGEOT 5008 SUV the customer chooses, the optimised architecture makes it a high achiever. It is 95kg lighter than its predecessor and the EMP2 platform gives the perfect balance between mass, strength and functionality on all levels.
Aerodynamic design and optimised external dimensions give it one of the lowest drag areas (CdA) in the segment at 0.76 m2 and Ultra-Low Resistance 18" or slim-line Michelin 19" (205/55 R19) tyres further accentuate overall performance.
Engines available for the all-new 5008 SUV are:
- 1.6L THP turbocharged petrol with EAT6 six-speed automatic transmission
- 2.0L BlueHDi turbo-diesel with EAT6 six-speed automatic transmission
The four-cylinder petrol engine for Allure and GT Line displaces 1.6-litres, features an intercooled turbocharger, electronic multi-point direct fuel-injection and double overhead camshafts with variable timing for the inlet valves. Power output is 121 kilowatts at 6000rpm and torque output is 240 Newton metres at 1400rpm.
The turbocharged, 2.0-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine for GT has high-pressure, common rail direct-injection and develops 133 kilowatts of power at 3750rpm and 400 Newton metres of torque at 2000rpm. It also features Stop & Start technology which automatically stops the engine when the car comes to a complete stop and restarts it when the brake pedal is released.
Both engines are mated to Peugeot's smooth EAT6 six-speed automatic transmission, which drives the front wheels.
Combining power with efficiency, the petrol engine (Allure and GT-Line) gives 7.0 litres/100km on the combined fuel economy cycle (7.3 litres/100km for Grip control vehicles) and the diesel-powered GT an impressive 4.8 litres/100km. CO2 emissions are a low 156g/km for Allure (165g/km for GT-Line) and an impressive 124g/km for GT courtesy of BlueHDi technology.
