Shipments of Volkswagen's perennial Golf GTI in Model Year 19 form are arriving in numbers, an occasion marked by with a driveaway price tag of $47,990 until March 31.
After significant production delays, hundreds of the now single variant GTI range are arriving in Australia.
The five door MY19 Golf GTI comes with the output and drivetrain of 2017's limited run three-door Golf GTI Performance Edition 1.
This includes the same 180kW/370Nm tune of the 2.0-litre turbo petrol four, 7-speed wet-clutch DSG, electro-mechanical front differential lock and the ventilated front and rear disc brake package from the Golf R.
The MY19 Golf GTI also receives as standard the much in demand Active Info dashboard readout in addition to the Driver Assistance Pack, which includes the safety features listed below.
All new Volkswagens come with five year/unlimited kilometre warranty and 12 months roadside assist with the option of capped price servicing packages.
"For the first time since this GTI variant was introduced late last year, we will be in a position to meet demand," said Ben Wilks, Volkswagen's General Manager of Passenger Vehicle Sales.
"The inclusion of this much standard equipment – items that were inevitably optioned by customers – coupled with the newly enhanced drivetrain, make this in fact the best value GTI since the Mark 7 was introduced in 2013."
